Vancouver, BC

In 2018 to early 2019, more than ten Muslim societies and organization held 5 sessions in their attempt to reach a unified prayer timetable agreement for the Metro Vancouver area, which has been an ongoing issue in Vancouver for a considerable time.

During its sixth session that was held in March 22-29,1986 in Makkah, Islamic Fiqh Council [part of Muslim World League (MWL)], formed a committee that included nineteen renowned Islamic scholars and six prominent astronomers and scientists from several countries. The esteemed Fiqh Council issued a comprehensive fatwa on its Eights Resolution on Timings of Prayer and Fasting in Countries Situated on High Latitude.

Moreover, from 2016 to 2018 a group of brothers from BCMA Richmond Branch – (Jamea Masjid – Sky Watch Team) collected data by personally observing Fajr and Ishaa timing during summer according to rigorous criteria. Their findings were in close agreement with the Islamic Fiqh Council of the Muslim World League (MWL).

Thus, the Muslim Association of Canada (Vancouver Chapter) in collaboration with prominent Muslim community members in Metro Vancouver area have agreed to adopt the standardized version of the Islamic Fiqh Council of the Muslim World League (MWL) resolution.
