The sixth annual fundraiser dinner of The Citizens Foundation (TCF) Vancouver was held at Taj Park Convention Centre on Saturday November 2nd, 2019. TCF Pakistan's VP Zia Akhtar Abbas did a presentation on TCF and a TCF alumnus Zafar Ali told about his story on how he got to know of TCF school and then studied there to finally earn a scholarship to continue his higher education in Portland, Oregon. As always, TCF Vancouver fundraiser was a big success as it managed to attract more than 360 guests; by the end of event, TCF-Vancouver was able to raise over $75,000 in donations to sponsor TCF schools in extremely impoverished and backward areas of Pakistan.

TCF is Pakistan's largest non-profit organization working in the field of education. It builds and manages primary and secondary schools in rural areas and urban slums in Pakistan. TCF has a very unique operating model that has achieved remarkable success over the past decade. As of Nov 2019, TCF has expanded its network to over 1,567 operational school units, which is currently providing quality education to more than 252,000 students nationwide. TCF-Canada, one of its international chapters, helps primarily by collecting donations from expatriates and various other organizations. It is registered, with Canada Revenue Agency and audit by KPMG.

The event began with a beautiful kids performance followed by brief update on TCF Canada by Hyder Masum and Vancouver chapter update by Usman Nadeem, Vancouver Chapter President. Zia Abbas, TCF Pakistan Vice President then came on stage and apprised the audience on overall operations and impact of TCF in Pakistan. After dinner, a very well known comedian Jeremy McLellan performed for 40 mins. He was followed by a very talented singer Navin Jan and set the stage for the evening’s entertainment till late in night.

Congratulations to TCF-Vancouver for not only achieving their goal but also for hosting a memorable experience for all involved to reflect the ongoing efforts of The Citizens Foundation.
