Let Peace Be Their Memorial - A wreath laying ceremony for overlooked victims of conflict

11-13-2019

On Nov 11, 2019 World BEYOND War - Metro Vancouver chapter participated in a peace ceremony at Seaforth Peace Park for the overlooked victims of war. They had a table setup with David Swanson’s books for sale, the declaration of peace for people to sign, literature about World BEYOND War and literature about the situation in Kashmir.

By highlighting the devastating impact of war on civilians and the environment, Let Peace Be Their Memorial expands the focus of Remembrance Day to reflect the diversity of Canadian perspectives on war and remembrance, and to acknowledge the war experiences of immigrant Canadians.

This event was Co-hosted by Vancouver Peace Poppies, the BC Humanist Association, and the Multifaith Action Society.

Some future World BEYOND War events that are coming up are:

1. MarchApril 2020 – Talk by John Foster, author of “Oil and World Politics” in Metro Vancouver.

2. May 26-30, 2020 - #NoWar2020 “Divest, Disarm, and Demilitarize: Conversion for a Peaceful, Green, & Just Future” Conference, Peace Festival, Mass protest against CANSEC in Ottawa.
