MYC International Food Festival

11-27-2019

'Food unites people from different countries and cultures.'

Sunday, November 10, 2019- The Muslim Youth Centre (MYC) hosted its annual International Food Festival on Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 12pm-4pm. It was a highly successful event with food selling out in the first couple hours! There were a wide array of countries represented from Canada, Guyana, Bangladesh, Eygpt, Fiji, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, USA and many more! The different countries showcased their countries traditional homemade food. The buyers enjoyed purchasing their tickets and experiencing food from all the tables and hearing the inspirational stories from the chefs.

President of MYC, Brother Kareem Husain opened MYC's International Food Festival with a Welcome speech and opening Prayer. MLA Rachna Singh, MLA Harry Bains, MLA Garry Begg and MLA Jagrup Brar made heartwarming speeches about how important the MYC is for the Youth and their families and how wonderful it is to see all the different faces participating in MYC’s events.

A major thank you goes out to all the volunteers, chefs and buyers. Also, Anmol Minhas - Miss Galaxy Canada, Miss Galaxy Surrey and our major supporter Sister Aisha and her team from Radio Bula Masti. Furthermore, to the hardworking team at MYC who dedicate their time and effort to steering a highly successful event for the community. This was an experience like no other. All the proceeds from this event go towards the maintenance of the MYC and for more MYC Youth programs. The MYC encompasses a warm, nurturing and loving environment for everyone. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next International Food Festival and many, many events.

Upcoming MYC November 2019 events include: Women and Children Clothing Sale on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 12pm-5pm, Family Fun Day on Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 1:30pm-4:30pm and Boys 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on Sunday, December 7, 2019 from 1:30pm-5:30pm.
