Promote healthy measures to educate and protect our members from Corona Virus

2-05-2020

I hope this letter finds you all in the best of health and Islamic spirit.

I am writing on a very urgent matter and this has to deal with the out break of the most dangerous Corona Virus for which there is no cure. Innocent people are dying and each one of us must do everything to save lives.
Today the World Health Organization has announced that this is a Universal Pandemic and will affect every country and its people.

As a community, we need to come together and take necessary steps to protect all our members and their families. Our school children are venerable and must be protected at all cost. As community leaders we need to take a lead role in not only informing our members as to the seriousness of this disease but also to take steps to educate everyone. All Masjid facilities must have signs posted to remind everyone to wear protective gears such as MASKS, GLOVES, WASH HANDS REGULARLY, COUGHING HAS TO BE WITH MOUTH COVERED. Those who are sick must be asked to stay home and out of public domain, until the serious situation comes to an end.

Everyone needs to avoid shopping malls, restaurants and large gatherings.

We should also order Masks and gloves and distribute it at every Masjid, Schools and Madrassas. Washing of hands must be made mandatory and all garbage must be removed from the facilities on a daily basis to prevent rats and mice from spreading disease if they are contaminated.

This is all the wish of Allah Subhanwatala but it is our duty to do everything to protect ourselves and our families from such serious diseases.

The Carpets at every facility must be vacuumed on a daily basis and fumigated. The carpets are a great area to contain walk in germs and viruses.

I recommend that a Central Committee be formed to be given this task and all Masjids, Schools and Madrassas be required to work with this committee for the protection of all Muslims, Inshallah.
Let us take a lead role in preventing this deadly virus from spreading and protecting both our members and the general public.

We should raise and set aside funds needed to spend and promote these healthy measures in our local papers not only to educate our members but to show the authorities what steps we as a community are taking to contribute to the safety and security of all people.
