Pakistani Field Hockey legend Shahbaz Ahmed Senior honoured in Vancouver

On Sunday March 1st, Pakistani Field Hockey legend Shahbaz Ahmed Senior was guest of honor at a reception held at Taste of Lahore restaurant in Surrey, BC. Canada.

Shahbaz Ahmed Senior is also known as Maradona of hockey for his outstanding stick work. Considered to be among the best forwards in the history of field hockey,  He joined the Pakistan National Hockey Team in 1986, and was captain of the national side, that led his team to the 1994 Men's Hockey World Cup victory. He played at three Olympic Games, winning a bronze medal in 1992.

Shahbaz was met welcome by Canadian Field hockey star Nick sandhu who participated in two consecutive Summer Olympics for Canada.

The event was organized by PAKCAN Field Hockey Club and Pakistani Canadian community association.

Among the audience was local MLA’S Jinny Sims, Harry Bains and Rachna Singh.

Aspiring filed hockey players were also recognized and a medal was awarded to the players.
