NCCM Calls Out Inaction from Edmonton Police Service After "Ramadan Bombathon" Video Surfaces

5-01-2020

A week has passed since an individual, well known to have ties to white supremacist groups, posted on social media about how he was going on a “Ramadan Bombathon”. He also trespassed and stalked out a local Edmonton mosque.

As of yet, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has not provided any information relating to what definitive action has been taken in terms of charges being filed or an arrest being made.

“The apparently complete inaction of EPS is shocking” said Mustafa Farooq, CEO of the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM), “It is troubling that a week has gone by since a white supremacist announced a ‘Ramadan Bombathon’, and staked out an Edmonton mosque. To our knowledge, the individual has not been charged. We are certain that if a member of the Canadian Muslim community threatened to commit a series of bombings and staked out potential targets, an arrest would (and should) be made. We demand that the same standard be applied here.”
