ISLAMIC CENTER OF BLAINE HOSTS open house for the Neighbourhood

On July 30th Islamic Center of Blaine hosted a open house for Blaine neighbourhood and church members from Blaine and Bellingham.  

Br Bashir Patel as MC welcomed all guests to the open house and explained the need for open house as a stepping stone to forge ties with the neighbourhood and for interfaith relationships.

The gathering was formally opened with a Quran Tilawat by Maulana Fahim Khan and then by a speech by him explaining to the audience about the role of a Muslim with his neighbours. The people were very enthusiastic with his speech. There was a positive vibe around everyone as he explained about the current situation around the world and denounced the action that is taking place.

The pastor of Lutheran church and other church elders took turns in speaking the need to have dialogues within the community to forge strong ties and to better understand each other and build a community with peace and harmony among us.

The First United Church of Bellingham was thanked for the support shown at the time of shooting in Orlando, the church members made Flags and gave to ICB.  

The event was a coordination work by Rizwaan Mohammed and Sharon Hill,  it took both of them the whole of Ramadan and July in coordinating this successful event. We had over 100 people attending.

The Neighbourhood was also given a Tour of the Center and question was also answered by Maulana Fahim.

The Board would like to thank all the members for coming out to help with organizing and helping out doing BBQ and a special appreciation and thanks goes to Br Altaf for donating BBQ patties, Br Khalid for donating Chicken, Br Raazin’s Family for preparing delicious food and sweets, Br Mukthar & Family and Master Munir for coming out from Surrey to show support and a special thanks to Maulana Fahim for being supportive since day one.
