Obituary: Ganief (Hanief) Edwards Past President of BCMA

Br Ganief (Hanief) Edwards passed away in Ramadaan.
Br.Hanief was an active member of BCMA. He was the president in the early 70’s & also served as Imam on the occasions of ID. Hanief was from South Africa and came to Vancouver with his wife in 1968.
They started a tailoring business which they both ran until their retirement. While in BCMA as the president, he and his Vice President Hamid Samodien made a lot of changes and renovated the Vancouver Islamic Centre.
He was always very quiet and modest in his involvement in BCMA.
Hanief was a very dedicated and devoted member of the association right up to the end. We pray for Allah’s mercy and blessings on his soul.
