Egypt 3 years later

1-24-2017

Since the deposition of democratically elected President Mohammed Morsi, the Egyptian military had not  restore democracy and has made Egypt sink into chaos. But what has occurred over the last six months  has been nothing short of disaster to the Egyptian society, all anti-military opposition leaders have been arrested, almost all members of the previous government have either been jailed or murdered  or sentenced to death on spurious charges, the first democratically elected president is facing death penalty, countless numbers of young student girls have been raped and the labeling of terrorism is now the new scapegoat goat to hunt anyone dear to speak out against the repressive regime including famous soccer player ( Abu Trika) .

Martial law and curfews which had been applied for decades by Mubarak’s autocratic rule have returned in much severe way as the police forces do not hesitate to shoot down any protest after the Military court passed a strict law to prohibit protests.

Today, executive and legislative powers are in the hands of the military for absolute power to do anything they desire to the public which has given rise to the old Mubarak regime in far worse picture.  The passing of this new law include disastrous clauses such as allowing civilians to be tried in military courts, giving the military control over the appointment of the defense minister and retaining the military's budget beyond civilian oversight which have no hesitation to give harsh sentences to peaceful protesters and civilians while setting free all those who served under Mubarak.

The worst of it all, is Sisi’s regime have not offer the people of Egypt any hope of bettering their lives, as a matter of facts had made the lives of many quite unbearable due to bad economic decisions, miss use of  resources and failure to reconcile with oppositions and angry messes.

The fact is, three years passed since the military toke over power by force and  the military has no clear road-map to democracy and has reverted to oppression to control the rules of the game. Consequently, it becomes clearer day after day that Egypt is on the verge of another mass revolt.

Please come join us on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017 for a solidarity rally featuring high-profile speakers from the local community as they discuss the daily atrocities and continuous attacks on human rights perpetrated against Egyptians at the hands of the military.
