Radical Desi organizes a solidarity Rally with Quebec Mosque Shooting Victims

Vigil and prayers for the victims of Quebec Islamic Cultural Center took place at Holland Park In Surrey.
On Thursady February 4th, Gurpreet Singh of Radical Desi organized a rally as well as Br br Sikandar Hayat and his Wife Suzanne Hayat organized a Vigil on Friday Feb 3rd.
Despite the cold Weather and snow, the events were well attended by about one hundred people with the aim to show solidarity with the victims’ families and to bring together generations of people from different faiths to promote peace and understanding in a world faced with extremism and violence.
Among The Guests were a myriad of MPs and MLAs, community activists including Linda Hepner, Mayor of Surrey. We extend our gratitude to all those representatives and attendee who made an effort to come the Vigil.
Especially, Councillor Mike Starchuck, Br Janif Mohammed of Masjid al Noor, Br Asad Syed from White Rock Muslim Asociation, Among the speakers at the vigil prayer for the victims of #Quebecmosqueshooting organized by Sikandar Hayat were Ken Hardie, Mayor Linda Hepner, Puneet Sandhar Jinny Sims, MP Sukh Dhaliwal, MLA Harry Bains, MP Randeep Singh Sarai, MLA Sue Hammell, Harpreet Singh and Rachna Singh.
Gurpreet would like to extend his Thanks to all those who showed up at the rally on February 3rd, Braving cold weather social justice activists from different groups showed up at the demonstration jointly organized by Radical Desi and Coalition Against Bigotry. MLA Harry Bains was the only elected official present. Message of solidarity was also sent by MP Sukh Dhaliwal who was in Ottawa.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Imtiaz Popat, Musa Ismail, Shahzad Nazir Khan, PJ Lilley, Ninu Kang, Sunil Kumar, Barjinder Singh, Dave Diewert, Parminder Swaich and NDP candidate for Surrey Greentimbers Rachna Singh. Among other Facebook friends who attended were Parshotam Dosanjh, Hardev Singh and Navtej Johal.
