Nanaimo residents to come together and pay their respects

In Nanaimo on Friday February 3rd, Br Bob Ibrahim and Meg Labron organized a Vigil at Diana Krall Plaza in downtown Nanaimo. Obout 500 Residents of gathered to show their sympathy and support for the Muslims of Nanaimo.

Various community groups and organizations, as well as a representative from Nanaimo city council were present.  

The vigil was an opportunity for Nanaimo residents to come together and pay their respects and demonstrate commitment to fighting Islamophobia, racism, and violence.

People brought candles, flowers and cards that were then dropped off at the Islamic Centre of Nanaimo.

On behalf of The BC Muslim Association and Islamic Centre of Nanaimo Bob Rahiman thanked the attendees for taking the time to drop off flowers, sympathy cards and writing to us in these difficult times.

He Said, “We appreciate the outpouring of support and words of sympathy that we have received in the past few days from our neighbors, local community and Canadian friends such as you.

We hope and pray that this support will help heal the wounds so we can all coexist peacefully in this world.”
