Al- Ihsan Bangladesh Girl's School Fundraiser

5-30-2017

Alhumdulillah, by the Grace of the All Mighty Allah(SWT), He permitted us to hold another fundraising event for Al Ihsan Women’s Vocational Centre of Bangladesh on Saturday, May 20th. at Paradise Banquet Hall in Delta, BC. And by His Mercy (SWT) we were able to raise a generous amount. We thank Allah(SWT) for his Mercy upon us and we thank each and every person who donated and those who intended to donate but were not able to do so. May Allah(SWT) grant all of us the very best in this world and the Hereafter. Special thanks go out to our dear Sheikh Ahmad Shehab for sacrificing his time and his family time to be with us and motivating us and reminding us of our duties to Allah(SWT). May Allah(SWT) elevate Sheikh Ahmad to the highest ranks of Jannah.

Al-Ihsan Women’s Vocational Center is located in Hashara, one of the poorest villages of Bangladesh.  It has been tested with a variety of natural calamities and river erosion leaving it with the ground water poisonously contaminated. It has destroyed property and life of the people. More and more people lose their homes, property and children and many children lose their parents.
In order to shelter these homeless orphans, Al-Ihsan accommodated 12 Orphan students this year enrolling them in a Hifzul Quran course. Alhamdulillah, Al-Ihsan has taken the responsibility of providing of their necessities including food, shelter, clothing, education, medical treatment, etc. until their marriage. Primary target of Al-Ihsan is to make them Hafiza, Insha Allah also to provide them a basic general education.

Our goal is to increase the housing of more orphan students in coming years if we receive a good response from you all. This is an extreme need as many of these orphans have lost their fathers, mothers or both and have no places to live. This situation leads to a high risk of physical and sexual abuse with early marriages.

Most of the non-resident students of Al-Ihsan come to the school without having proper breakfast. Al Ihsan arranges breakfast from Pre-K to KG students and lunch for Grade 1 to Grade 9 students.

Al-Ihsan has proved its academic successes. For the last 4 years, ALL THE Grade 5 students have scored A’s or A+’s in the Govt. School Board Exams.  The School has also reduced the health expenses of the students by 50%. This has been accomplished by feeding them a nutritious diet and by observing a healthy exercise routine. At the same time Al-Ihsan has reduced the rate of early marriages by 75%.

With such successes, it is not surprising that there has been an increased demand for admission to the school - an increase of tenfold since the school was inaugurated.  The training received from Al Ihsan has empowered some of the girls to establish their own tailoring businesses.

A one hour daily compulsory class for all, has proven to be of immense value in educating the participants in Arabic, Qur’anic recitation, including tajweed, and in everyday Fiqh.
Al-Ihsan started a scholarship program for meritorious and serious students. This has encouraged even more diligence in their studies.  The Teachers have received further training from experienced professionals from Canada and elsewhere.   We have added grade 9 in 2017 and with Allah’s help we will, Insha Allah, expand to Gr-10 in 2018 enabling graduation with the secondary school certificate.  We have hired 9 new highly qualified teachers from Dhaka (Capital of Bangladesh).  They are transported back and forth to the school on a daily basis by a donated school bus, they arrive at school early in the morning to avoid peak hour traffic.  In 2016, all 5th graders passed the Bangladesh school board exam in with A ‘s while the 8th graders scored A’s with a few B’s.

Al Ihsan started extracurricular activities under different clubs such as Islamic etiquette club, manner’s club, communication club and mandatory library group study club since September 2016 to educate students with real life teachings of Islam through practical work. They are learning that Islam is not just a religion of Salah and Fasting, rather it teaches them everything that they need in their day to day life.  To further our academic excellence, it is our greatest hope and prayer to add a new Science Wing this coming semester.

We have come a long way, but the horizon is still in the distance. With your continuous dua and active participation we will, under Allah’s guidance and blessings, continue to improve. We, at Al Ihsan, look forward to your continued support to make this successful project even more successful and self-sustaining in the years to come. If you missed out on donating, remember, it’s never too late.

Please remember these children and their families to donate your Fitrana and Udhya for a happy Eid to all of them. You can reach to us anytime at (604)970-4601 and (253)334-4974 or admin@aiwvc.com.
