Ihsan Ullah Waqas -Former Punjab Provincial Assembly Member of Pakistan Visits Vancouver

On February 9th, a dinner was organized by Farooq Sipra at Gulberg Fine Cuisine in Surrey for hosting  Ihsan Ullah Waqas who served as a member of Punjab Provincial Assembly from 2002 to 2007.

Waqas thanked the community members gathered for his reception and for their commitment for the betterment of Pakistan.

Waqas said on his travels abroad he feels Pakistanis are more loyal to Pakistan then the locals in Pakistan.

He wished that Pakistan was not viewed with the prism of the Pakistani politics rather Pakistan should be viewed with the work of institutions that are serving the locals.

He cited many examples where local NGO’S carry out tremendous work in the absence of Government.

For example Indus serves local without charging any patients, Citizen foundation builds schools for poor in small rural villages, Edhi foundation serves the largest ambulance service and Akhout serves small aspiring business with interest free loans. There are many examples like this.

He is now serving on the board of Alkhidmat foundation which spends 5 billion rupees annually including on Hindus during Diwali and  Christians during Christmas. He said in areas where the Hindus are in 70% in majority they have dug 2000 wells.

He stated,  “we have to build Pakistan based on love.”

Currently Alkhidmat sponsors orphans who have no guardians. They have partnered with ICNA Canada in their sponsorship programs. Their directors are volunteers without any compensation except workers.

The program concluded with a Br Jameel Ahmad donating $1000 and Br Malik Arfan Donating land for the Alkhidmat foundation.

May Allah accept the works of all in the service of humanity.
