The Turkish nightmare of July 15, 2016

4-04-2018

What Turkey experienced on the night of July 15, 2016 was no ordinary night. It was a night full of mayhem that erupted all across rocking the entire nation side by side, which left 250 innocent civilians dead and more than 2,200 injured. Turkey, a country cradling between Asia and Europe tragically encountered a ruthless event in its history where disloyal members of the Turkish Armed Forces staged a coup d’état in hopes of overthrowing the democratically elected government. This notorious military junta was spearheaded by the orders of expatriated Imam Fethullah Gülen and former ally of incumbent President Erdogan, who operates a nauseating global terrorist organization better known as FETÖ, preaching his contaminated and hideous agenda under the guise of Islam. This ringleader of the plot has been living in exile in Pennsylvania's Poconos Mountains, United States of America since 1999 waging a relentless war against the Turkish government, and zealously striving to secure the mantle of power in a country he hypocritically calls home. Followers of his religious terror cult have seeped their way through all veins of Turkish society illegally infiltrating the judicial, army, police, education, and bureaucracy tarnishing the minds of the younger generation through a lewd brainwashing scheme. This is usually done by handing out free scholarships to students as an incentive to secure and populate more followers in his terror craze.

Moreover, FETÖ falsely portrays his organization “Hizmet” (meaning “Service”) as a group that advocates for peace, positive youth upbringing, and interfaith dialogue; a wolf masked under a sheep’s skin it is that seeks to fuel more members into his terror organization for the exploitation of innocent youth at a peak time in their life. Poor young recruits are victimized in the movement and brought under the impression that it’s a movement pursuing to better the person as well as the world at large. Other times, families are already conscripted into this polluted lobby and supportive of their children’s enrollment in becoming the next generation which will capitulate Turkish democracy and stability. In reality, its ultimatum is to corrupt the younger blood who have already matured and brought forth destruction of unimaginable levels that our time has already witnessed, not too long ago. Not only does it end here, but many have waged their fight and illicit propaganda lash against Turkey. The result of all this is that those who were used as an instrument all throughout their lives have been unfortunately fooled this whole time, and tactlessly, many have fell prey to Fethullah Gülen’s bloody-stained hands. Now they face the justice system entangled within the legal limbo as suspects involved in the foiled military coup attempt of July 15, 2016.

“He’s imprisoning journalists, silencing the press, he’s closed down media stations, sacked more than 140,000 from the public sector, arrested more than 50,000 individuals, carried out legal proceedings against more than 170,000 people, he’s purging the roots of Turkish society, and dismantling innocence from their lives etc,” are merely some admonitions of what we’ve all heard across the world about Turkey and its leader. Such accusations lobbed around like paper into a bin cannot be accepted as they do not represent true factual evidences of Turkey’s internal politics. It’s of pinnacle importance that we understand what happened on July 15, 2016 to make sense of this so-called “political chaos” we see unravelling in Turkey.

The word “democracy” has always been tossed around on the political arena amongst politicians, news-anchors and even world leaders. When it comes to the case of Turkey, we can subtly observe that even though it follows a democratic constitutional order, it is often times labelled as uncivilized and undemocratic. The West tends to lean more on a stance which undermines the Turkish government and its leader, warding off the reality as to why Turkey behaves the way it does. To put things into a brighter lens, we’ve unfortunately seen many fingers pointed at this fragile country embattled internally and externally with a plenitude of social, political, security, and economic issues- some of which are nearly impossible to deal with. Ultimately, this leads to a reckless smear campaign against Turkey despising it, and disparaging its leadership as Machiavellian.

Turkey has become the shared token to the arcade in the American and Western spheres, habitually utilized as a means to secure popular vote amongst extremist right-wing politicians during election campaigns. Recent chief examples of betrayal to democratic values that the West miserably failed to uphold and respect are countries like the Netherland, France, Germany and Austria who have classified Turkey as the root of all evil in prospects of blemishing its world standing. As Europe, the United States of America, and Middle Eastern spheres watched Turkey burn to death on that atrocious night whilst siding with the FETÖ terrorist organization, I say with deep grief that Turkey was betrayed by the entire world and left to suffer on its own. Those who Turkey thought were friends turned foe, and not a single word of condemnation was uttered by any except a few respected nations. Consequently, when the Turkish government began its crack down on the FETÖ terrorist organization to secure its hands on the country’s ropes, the adversaries woke up indicting Turkey of human rights violations, innocent imprisonment, and dictatorship. I mean, if we aren’t willing to safeguard our nations from terrorists, who else will? If we aren’t willing to fight the “war on terror” that than former American President George W. Bush declared after the September 11th attacks, which still resonates and is the main objective of every nation today, can Turkey not do the same?

The case of America refusing to extradite Fethullah Gülen is truly troubling, even though the Turkish government has supplied Washington with enough evidence to prove FETÖ’s involvement in the coup attempt. Moreover, this is not to forget that Turkey and the United States of America have a 1979 extradition treaty signed which means FETÖ should be handed back upon the request of Turkish authorities to be tried for his crimes. Sadly, America has not cooperated and respected this treaty which explains why relations between the two countries slowly deteriorated towards the end of Obama’s tenure as President. The same as well goes for Germany who it’s intelligence head Bruno Kahl denied FETÖ’s association with the putschist attempt. Bear in mind, this blunt and audacious declaration comes from the tongue of a man residing in a country where his own government has secured a safe haven to FETÖ and PKK terrorists. President Erdogan has provided the German government with 4,500 pieces of evidence on PKK terrorists residing in Germany, yet the answer to have them extradited back to Turkey to be held by the justice system has never been answered. Since last year’s failed coup attempt, roughly 4,000 FETÖ members made their way into Germany to flee the Turkish justice prosecution. The Gülenist group’s statistics claim that Germany hosts a staunching 70,000 FETÖ persons. Nonetheless, this should not sadden us strenuously. On a brighter note, we have those who stand by Turkey’s ingenuous claims with regards to the Gülenist coup attempt.

Former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said from a U.K. parliamentary committee report, released by the Foreign Affairs Committee from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Britain's Foreign Ministry) on UK-Turkey relations that "without any question," the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) was involved in the coup attempt. "I am very pleased that the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons has concluded that the Gülenist Terror Group was involved in the coup," Straw said. He went on further to declare that at the beginning of the coup attempt, it was brought to mention in the U.K. that a few were killed due to several soldiers rebelling against the government. He later fortified this assertion truthfully by saying, “This is simply not true. It could have brought down and came to bringing down a democratically elected government in a European country.” He further described the coup bid as “outrageous,” and elaborated to say that FETÖ has two facades, yet many people saw his “nice face.” Furthering on his words, he said in the guise of their “very dark face,” they plotted to emasculate the pillars of democracy. To solidify the British stance, the Minister of State for Europe and the Americas at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom, Sir Alan Duncan is in harmony that there is consciousness amongst him and his government which leads them to believe that FETÖ was behind the wheel of the failed coup attempt.

I quote, “If you read the report, you will see my words saying, ‘Our understanding is in this direction [FETÖ being behind the coup].’ The report also states that ‘it is in the U.K.’s right to support Turkey against the coup attempt. We have to condemn this act. Yes, this is an attempt by a parallel structure to destroy democracy, and this is unacceptable,’” says Duncan. However, it’s important to consider that the report also includes opposition to this claim. The report also states that “there is a lack of hard evidence,” which does not mean the U.K. does not condemn the act. Let us also bear in mind that the U.K. was amongst the early nations to side by Turkey against the coup attempt and first to visit Ankara, while others underestimated the disaster contributed by FETÖ. Duncan was later asked about whether or not FETÖ was behind the failed coup bid; he replied, "I think the answer has to be, in large part, in terms of significant involvement, yes." “It is a very complicated phenomenon in Turkish government and society; it will probably take years to analyze this and to get to the bottom of it.” Duncan also touched upon FETÖ’s "clear and systematic infiltration of the entire apparatus of government by a group of people who, as a state within the state, try to overturn the state."

What’s going on one may ask? Why do we have some who agree with Turkey’s position that the Gülenist Terror Group was involved in the failed coup attempt while the rest idle in defiance against Turkey and its prime suspect?

Let’s bring to the limelight another hideous, daunting orchestration of terrorism better known as “Ergenekon” achieved by FETÖ. Ergenekon was the name of a terrorist group linked to the Gülenist movement which was involved in a fabricated case of false evidences against government officials in 2007. During the peak of this event, a large stash of weapons was discovered in Istanbul’s Ümraniye district which were associated to the group. A huge sum of arrests went underway against officials. Turkish politician Dogu Perinçek, former army chief Ilker Basbug, journalists Tuncay Özkan and Mustafa Balbay, amongst other famous figures were detained for years until a final indictment in 2013 was handed to each in custody, sending them to prison for various detention periods. In 2014, it was revealed that this entire plot was a lie and those who fell innocently by FETÖ’s ploy were held in vain; ultimately leading to the release of those arrested. It was later discovered that FETÖ was behind this devilish scheme merely to subjugate those who were critical of his movement.

The perpetrators were later held accountable and are currently under custody by the government. In a similar case named “Sledgehammer,” members of the Turkish Armed Forces staged a coup attempt against the AK Party for their successive streaks in assuming successive wins in governmental elections. Those part of this second attack were also members of FETÖ, in conjunction with loyal secular-Kemalists. This brings the total number of FETÖ’s successive attempts at the government to three military coup sabotages since 2013. Without a shed of doubt, this bloody-thirsty besmirched villain is a man who inflicted damage on an incomparable scale to civil society and human life. Now, for us to arrive at a conclusion where we bail him out of his own committed crimes is truly inhumane and disgraceful to all those who lost their lives protecting Turkey on July 15, 2016.

My words can be attested for by the Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern who daringly spoke about Turkey’s mass arrests following the failed July 15 coup attempt. Mr. Kern notoriously said that democratic standards in Ankara were "clearly not sufficient to justify accession" into the European Union. To elaborate more on this quagmire, international news sources rang their voices in happiness as to what was happening in Turkey during that brutal night. Disgraceful examples of this melancholic tone were headlines such as, "Erdogan stronger, democracy in decline", "unsuccessful coup made Erdogan stronger." Two members of the Congress in the U.S. tweeted the following: "Good news of the day: Military attempting to oust Turkish dictator" and "Military takeover in Turkey will hopefully lead to real democracy – not Erdogan Authoritarianism."

Such, were the utterances of hate evoked from the horse’s neigh of the West. After all, when Turkey requests a terrorist back to his native land to be held by the justice system for acts of treason, sabotage to state institutions, mass killing, and pitiless attempts to overthrow the constitutional order, can we continue to call Turkey a violator of human rights values and “democracy?” Can we still accuse its leader of totalitarianism and malicious behavior? This is the unfortunate Western ball game whereby the referee rules out in favor of the guilty, not the innocent.

The night of July 15, 2016 was no ordinary night for any Turk or non-Turk. It wasn’t a night to remember as being blissful, full of splendid memories for us all to reminisce and feel nostalgic about, at least not for myself having lived through that clamorous ride. It was a horrifying and vicious night which succumbed the lungs of everyone in Turkey. Just when everyone thought of cuddling into bed for a tranquil sleep hoping to see another morning dawn, is when this dream was cut short. The night of July 15, 2016 was a tumultuous night, engulfed with upheaval which witnessed a sheer destruction of Turkish society and governance. Just before the hour ticked midnight, that’s when the tale of the Turkish nightmare roared across the nation, haunting it until the morning of July 16, 2016. It was the longest, most terrifying, traumatizing and sickening night Turkey has seen in a long time since the founding of its Republic in 1923. What may have started off as a normal night was just the beginning of an infamous story for every Turk and non-Turk to keep engraved in their hearts for the rest of their lives. We can only grasp the bitterness of that night by living it through a narrative. To make better sense of how history was written on that night, let’s delve deeper into its skin and acquaint ourselves with its reality to learn more as to why Turkey has now been crowned the symbol of perseverance, resilience, unity and democracy.

The night of July 15, 2016 began like no other. I will never forget how the night soared its way to reality for myself and those around me. Innocent lives were taken in vain by a group of disloyal members within the Turkish Armed Forces who seized their weapons against their own people. It was a night where the Bosphorus Bridge, now renamed in the honor of those who died on it to “The July 15 Martyrs Bridge” was ravaged. It has become the symbol of resistance today whereby being the prime stage of defiance against FETÖ. It was also the site which saw most civilian life ceased, staged in insolence against blatant treachery. July 15, 2016 saw many innocent lives mobilized to take the streets on. The result of such bravery and boldness witnessed many shot at point-blank by coup plotters laying siege to the bridge. They opened their automatic rifles and fired a fusillade of bullets at anyone who dared cross their line of fire. Snipers were mounted atop the bridge scoping for innocent civilians, firing their ammunition arbitrarily. Tanks rolled across the streets of Istanbul and Ankara squashing innocent lives resisting the coup while they carried Turkish flags as a weapon to relinquish the ill-intent of rogue military figures. F-16 jets flared across the skies of Istanbul and Ankara disturbing the peace of innocent families sleeping. F-16’s assembled swarming across the skies of Turkey at a very low altitude causing supersonic waves, shattering windows of homes, and yes, killing birds as well. Military helicopters as well as F-16’s swarmed across Istanbul and Ankara firing an overwhelming level of lethal artillery at innocent civilians protesting the coup. The parliament, MIT (Intelligence headquarters), Türksat (Turkish communications station), the hotel in Marmaris where the President was vacationing with his family was rounded with live ammunition, followed by a group of assassins who arrived by helicopter to take out the President and his family. Luckily, he managed to escape with his family to Istanbul's Atatürk International Airport. It was at this point where Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed a crowd of Turkish supporters loyal to him and his government that the constitutional order is under the reigns of his government.

Let’s all live this heart-aching experience together and feel the pain which shook the nerves of everyone that night.

The Turkish nightmare of July 15, 2016 unfolded just before midnight giving birth to mayhem across the country. Adil Öksüz, a senior FETÖ figure and Fethullah Gülen’s right-hand man, along with another senior accomplice Kemal Batmaz were signalled to light to ignite the spark of fire that would soon blaze across Turkey scorching it till the crack of dawn. With the spark being lit, this prompted the General Staff members to evaluate an intelligence report regarding an imminent coup attempt postulated by the National Intelligence Organization (MIT). As a safety measure, the airspace was closed, military activity was severed and the General Staff began to scrutinizing the Air Force Aviation Academy. Shots started to ring inside the General Staff headquarters in Ankara and a helicopter commence an open air assault of fire on citizens. As of this point, coup soldiers captured the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridges. The General Staff headquarters and state broadcaster, Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) fall under the control of coup soldiers. Soon afterwards, TRT temporarily goes off service and the coup soldiers arrive at Istanbul's Atatürk International Airport with tanks. Upon their arrival, the airport is barred from public service and passengers are stranded in the airport with flights cancelled. A group of coup soldiers begin to surround MIT (intelligence) headquarters in Ankara and a military helicopter piloted by coup soldiers opens fire on the complex. Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, goes on air speaking over the phone to Ahaber news and describes the ongoing situation as one being led by a small insurgent group within the Turkish Armed Forces. He adds that wherever they are found, they will be punished severely. Soon afterwards, The Police Special Forces Training Academy in Gölbasi is bombed. This sad attack killed 42 police officers in their sleep…

Coup soldiers proceeded towards the General Staff building besieging it and taking the Chief of Staff General Gen. Hulusi Akar captive. Clashes erupt between the police and coup forces. At this point, citizens flock around the building to protest the coup attempt which is surrounded by tanks. Coup soldiers deliver on the public’s resistance by opening fire on civilians killing many. Approximately 700 unarmed coup soldiers in the General Staff building surrender to police after it was declared that it has fallen under the leadership of soldiers loyal to the government.

As of this point, coup soldiers open fire on civilians protesting in Taksim Square, Vatan Avenue, and the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul, as well as within the proximity of the General Staff headquarters in Ankara. Istanbul's Atatürk International Airport is closed to air traffic by coup soldiers as they have cut all functions from the airport. The Justice and Development Party's (AK Party) provincial organization buildings are surrounded by coup soldiers in a volatile move against the government.

Grappled by fear and dismay, many were strangled within their dreams awaiting an end to this misery. Maybe a morning where life revolved back normally and everyone went on with their affairs. This was exactly the case on Saturday July 16, 2016 when everyone rejoiced at the victory of the public’s will against the military junta staging a bloody campaign against the country and its government.

As of this point, military helicopters commence a live assault on MIT headquarters, which leads MIT forces to return fire. Out of the many turning points during the failed coup attempt, we can highlight one which was extremely critical. It was when President Erdogan left Marmaris, accompanied by his family and guards in southwest Turkey for Istanbul's Atatürk International Airport, shortly before the arrival of an assassination team deployed to kill him and his family who were on vacation in the resort town. During the Marmaris assault, coup soldiers dressed in heavy military gear placed siege on the hotel and 5 police officers were injured by coup soldiers.

At this moment, coup soldiers force TRT anchorwoman Tijen Karas to read a declaration on live television stating that the country has fallen under the control of the coup soldiers.

It was at this point where President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan began to connect to TV channels over FaceTime on his iPhone and spoke live to his people, urging them to flock the streets and defend democracy against the coup plotters. If there is one crucial turning point during the event of July 15, 2016 that shined like a radiant star, it is the call of President Erdogan appealing to the Turkish nation to fill the streets in resistance of the coup. Just when America, the West, and the Middle East watched the horror show unfold with hopes of seeing Turkey become the next hub of instability and civil strife, is when their optimism was crushed by the Turkish will. This is indeed a feat which will go down in history as a prime example of unified public mobilization in the face of terror. Can we not call this democracy?

They call Erdogan a dictator, a man who rules with an iron-fist. We saw the false media claims that his own nation despises him. Why is it that on July 15, 2016 the entire Turkish nation obeyed his call for the security of the country, the preservation of democracy and peace? Do you still think that his own people want him gone, even though many could’ve sat at home and thanked God for sending this calamity upon them as a means of ridding Turkey and the world from Dracon and his ill-witted mantle? The reality has startled everyone, and their perceptions were debunked far from being the truth.

Later on during the night, 81 provinces upon the instruction of the Presidency of Religious Affairs began to recite the call to prayer as a measure to warn of the danger striking their country. This instilled deep faith in the hearts of many serving as a means of motivation and energy to continue the resistance against the coup bid.

The first investigation into the attempted military coup is launched in Istanbul and Ali Dogan, Küçükçekmece chief prosecutor declares that military coup soldiers will be detained wherever they are. To add more strength to his comment, the First Army Commander Gen. Ümit Dündar speaks out on live TV saying, “This isn’t an act supported by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).” At this point, a military helicopter bombs a facility which belongs to the Turkish satellite agency, TürkSat in Gölbasi district situated in Ankara, and military jets proceed to open fire on the Ankara Police Department. The Turkish Defense Minister Fikri Isik says, “This is a coup attempt by a junta in the Turkish Armed Forces.” As of this stage, military tanks lay siege on Parliament in Ankara sparking The Parliament’s General Assembly to commence with the presence of Parliament speaker Ismail Kahraman and deputies. The arrest of coup soldiers by loyal police to the state is initiated, and an F-16 military jet reigned by loyal Turkish soldiers shoots down a helicopter used by coup forces in Ankara. 13 coup soldiers, as well as 3 senior officers fall under the custody of loyal state forces while attempting to take over the Presidential Palace complex in Ankara. MIT (Turkish intelligence) spokesman speaks out and asserts that the coup attempt has been foiled. Maybe these could’ve been the words everyone aspired to hear. The reality was only moments from leaving the ditch of a dark abyss to a field of triumph that early morning.

As of this point in the merciless coup orchestration, a military helicopter carrying coup soldiers attempts to land on the Turkuvaz Media Outlet building, but fails. Now, a group of coup soldiers begin to fire at the fourth and fifth floors of the Turkuvaz Media proximity. Soon afterwards, the Turkish parliament falls hostage to the hands of coup plotters surrounding it with tanks. A military helicopter continues its impair on Parliament by opening fire at 2:42AM. During the attack, 100 deputies were present in the General Assembly hall for a live broadcast meeting. This fresh wave of assault on Parliament prompts deputies belonging to three different political parties to seek shelter inside the building. Seconds later, bombs are heard inside Parliament and deputies take to social-media posting pictures of the aftermath of the bombed Parliament. Amidst the mayhem, the Parliament was bombed 11 times during the fatal event of July 15, 2016. The bombing mission against the Parliament is renewed in a second assault. The Parliament speaker, along with deputies begin to seek a safe-haven inside the building’s bomb shelter. Turkish Prime Minister, Yildirim speaks live over the phone to a private broadcaster NTV and says those attacking the institutions with jets are members of a terrorist group. TRT, the Turkish news provider which went off air during the early stages of the military coup attempt goes back in service and continues with its broadcast. Coup soldiers who attempted to seize the TRT head office are arrested and Prime Minister Yildirim declares that any military helicopter, or jet flying over Ankara as well as restricted airspace, such as MIT headquarters, Parliament, the Prime Ministry or the Presidential Palace complex will be gunned down. Live fire is heard again from the General Staff headquarters.

At this gradual point towards the end of the nightmare, President Erdogan's plane lands at Atatürk International Airport in Istanbul. Upon his arrival, he is embraced by a huge wave of public supporters.

Now, a military helicopter attacks the Gölbasi Ground Station of Türksat in Ankara which is the country’s leading satellite communications and cable TV operations provider. During the attack, 2 staff members are killed, and 3 become injured resisting the coup soldiers. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s office issues a statement on the arrest of members affiliated with the Peace at Home Council. This was the name of the FETÖ terrorists who would act as a subdivision of power in Turkey for Fethullah Gülen, had the attempt been successful.

At this point, matters begin to simmer down and public stability is slowly gained by issuing arrests and gaining power of key state faucets. Arrests are made against the judiciary linked with the Gülenist terror group (FETÖ) and Turkish President Erdogan speaks to media outlets at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport issuing details about the coup attempt. Prime Minister Yildirim tweets that 130 coup soldiers have been rounded and high-ranking officers have been arrested, with one coup general killed. This move stimulates the Gölbasi Chief Public Prosecutor's Office as well to begin their coup attempt investigations. All streets running to the Prime Ministry in Çankaya and the ministry’s official residences, all situated in a restricted security zone are barred. Air Force pilots loyal to the state gun down a military helicopter which bombed the TürkSat complex in Gölbasi district, Ankara. Shortly afterwards, 50 coup soldiers surrender on the Bosporus Bridge in Istanbul which was seized by the coup plotters during the coup attempt and placed under their power for the entire night.  The siege of the Bosporus Bridge began on the night of July 15 and ended on the morning of July 16. Coup soldiers drop two bombs near the Presidential Palace complex and a military helicopter piloted by coup soldiers bombs the Gendarmerie headquarters. At this stage, Reuters reports that the General Staff complex is under the control of soldiers loyal to the government and General Gen. Hulusi Akar, who was taken captive during the coup attempt is released. Later on, The Gendarmerie General Command is protected by a team of Special Forces loyal to the state from further FETÖ provocations to seize its control. The Justice Ministry announces that 1,373 soldiers have been arrested. A no-fly zone is issued in the Marmara region as well as Istanbul. Shortly towards the closing moments of July 15, a military helicopter lands in Greece with 7 coup soldiers and one civilian seeking asylum. Another move of hypocrisy and betrayal to democratic values by the Greek government for allowing a safe-haven to members of a terrorist group.

Afterwards, The Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors suspend 2,745 judges from their service for links to the FETÖ terror group. The Parliament’s General Assemble holds an emergency meeting and all four parties issue a collaborative statement condemning the foiled coup attempt.

It was at this moment onwards that civil society began to stabilize itself, the constitutional order regained, and perpetrators cracked down upon.

So many lives have been spared in vain during the event of July 15, 2016. Mothers lost their children, especially those who took themselves and their flags to fight a barrage of heavily armed soldiers only to never return back home again. It was a night where the bags for the last flight leaving from Turkey were packed only to save Turkey from a severe intrusion of evildoers who sought to rot the state and its citizens. Those ranging from all levels of society left their loved ones for the very last time in resoluteness, only to not see a country they call home and aspire for its generation to thrive decompose in front of their eyes.

With all due respect and high esteem, let’s remember and thank all the 250 pure lives who fought to keep Turkey alive for many to still live and continue to call home. We also thank all the heroes injured during that night who are recovering from their wounds. Turkey and the entire world is indebted to you. Your noble and heroic actions will never perish from the minds and hearts of the masses. You’ll be regarded as the saviors of Turkey and the beacons of hope, resiliency, unity, tolerance, and love for all. May you rest in peace and happiness. May your ultimate home now be the ultimate abode in paradise. May it be your new true home.
