"HopeNotOut" Fundraiser for Pakistan

Pakistan’s celebrity allrounder Cricket Player visited Vancouver on April 26th to raise funds for his Foundation.

Shahid Afridi is the world record holder for the fastest One Day International century in 37 deliveries and holds the distinction of having hit the most number of sixes in the history of ODI cricket

Afiridi’s Vancouver trip was part of his tour across Canada touring Toronto, Ottawa, Fort Macmurray, Calgary and Winnipeg.

Islamic Relief Canada along with Shahid Afridi Foundation Canada coordinated his tour.

Sister Fatima Benhatta, representative of the Vancouver Chapter of Islamic Relief arranged - Hope For Pakistan - # HopeNot Out in Vancouver.

#HopeNotOut is his slogan for his foundation that seeks to support health care initiatives in rural areas of Pakistan.

Hundreds of Vancouverites joined “#Lala” his nickname in his noble cause, which raised about $70,000. The funds will go towards building and operating a hospital in Pakistan.

This will ensure improved health facilities in Kohat, Tangi Banda where people no longer have to go to the city to visit a hospital, and rejuvenating education by founding #SAFSchools in Lahore and other areas as well as undertaking Clean Water  in the underprivileged community in Tirah Valley.
Before departing for Calgary Shahid stated, “Thank you Vancouver and community members for tremendous support to have a great fundraising event.”
