Surrey`s Young Bloods - Salaam Cup Champions

8-08-2018

“The B.C. Youngbloods, ball hockey team from our very own Surrey, were crowned 2018 Madina Cup Champions of the Salaam Cup Tournament held in Mississauga, Ontario. The Salaam Cup Tournament is a highly intense and competitive ball hockey tournament held annually in Ontario that brings together Muslim teams from across Canada for three grueling days of competitive ball hockey.

The B.C. Youngbloods made history by becoming the first ever team in 14 years to bring a championship to the west coast! They beat Scarborough 2-1 in an action-packed finals. Congratulations!

The success of this team could not be possible without mentioning Brother Usamah Khan who originated this club in 2005 as a means to bring Muslim youth together and this club still instills his values and vision.  His successor, Qasim Bajwa, is also deserving of a very honourable mention. Without his dedication and commitment for the past four years in facilitating the club’s growth through inter-city league play, this championship would not be possible. Congrats again!”
