Eid ul Adha Message

8-22-2018

All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the universe. Peace and blessings be upon his final Messenger, his family, his noble Companions, and all those who follow them with righteousness until the Day of Judgment.

It is a great blessing that Allah (swt) has enabled us to come together as one to celebrate this beautiful day of Eid-ul-Adha.

As we prepare to pray our Eid salah and disperse from the Eid Gha to do our Qurbani, it is imperative to reflect on the essence of this auspicious day which reminds us of the fifth pillar of our faith, which is Hajj.

Indeed truly blessed are those who have undertaken the journey of their lifetime to the blessed land where many prophets namely, Ibraheem (AS), Ismail (AS), and Mohammed (SW) treaded on. This particular day is crucial in understanding the sacrifices our prophet Ibraheem (as) did and the tests that he was put through by Allah (swt) for us to ponder and reflect upon. Through this sacrifice, people from all over the world of different races, colors and languages converge to this centre of the universe of all muslims to unite as one, for the pleasure of almighty Allah (swt). The diversity of the muslims usually displays differences of opinions, different schools of thoughts, but during the time of Hajj we can clearly see this diversity displayed as a show of strength. Everyone is dressed the same, whether rich or poor, standing, walking and eating together. Whether it be standing long hours in the plains of Arafat or sleeping under the sky in Muzdalifah, everyone comes together in unity, solely to please Allah (swt).

May Allah (swt) accept the Hajj of all our brothers and sisters who have gone this year and may Allah (swt) accept all of us who are yet to fulfill this important pillar of Islam. Let us all make niyat today that we will do our utmost best to fulfill this important commandant of Allah (swt) as soon as possible, inshaAllah.

At this moment, I’d like to thank our ulema who have been there to guide us and make the correct decisions for us in regards to the Eid. I cannot emphasize the importance of having the ulema with us and respecting their decisions initially or even when they changed it with Mashwara amongst themselves for our betterment and guidance.

I’d like to take this opportunity to mention that in a few weeks, we are will be launching the Last Will & Testament booklet which has finally come to completion after 6 months of hard work by our Aalims, a team of lawyers, and members of our Executive Board. The Last Will & Testament guide covers most of the Islamic Laws and requirements and it is an easy reference for the lawyers to fill out for muslim clients. InshaAllah, BCMA will arrange for lawyers to have workshops on this at various masajids and we will try our best to have a designated Imam to help and explain the forms to you as well. This is part of our goal to provide benefits to our growing BCMA membership.

May Allah (swt) shower you all with the blessings of this beautiful day of Eid-ul-Adha.

On behalf of the entire BC Muslim Association, I extend to you and your families, a very joyous… EID MUBARAK!

ILTAF Sahib

President – The BC Muslim Association
