BCMA organizes Salat-ul-Istisqa - prayer for Rain

8-28-2018

On Saturday August 25th- 2018, The BC Muslim Association organized Salat-ul-Istisqa – Prayer for Rain at 2 locations.

Imam Yahyaa at Masjid Al Salam explained that Al-Istisqa’  means seeking water (rain) from Allah (the Most High) during drought and times of low rainfall.

He Said we are gathered to ask for rain not in our back yard but across the province where these wild fires are burning.

Qari Abdul Wahab at Surrey Jamea Masjid further stated that we are praying for rain in our provinces as well as for California seeking Allah to shower his mercy to all his creation.

Over 100 people prayed at Surrey Jamea Masjid and about 50 people at Masjid Al Salam.

This year fire season is the second worst on the record. Last year more than 12,000 square kilometres of B.C. landscape went up in flames last year, making it the worst wildfire season on record.

Shaykh Awais Wahab stressed the dire need to beg Allah for forgiveness. He Said, “We are in need of rain, many families have been affected and have lost their homes, animals have been displaced not only here and California but many parts of world.”

Iltaf Sahib the President of BCMA thanked all the congregants who came out to pray. He Said, “May Allah reward all who came out to pray Salaat Al Istiqsa at Surrey Masjid today. We had just finished and I was having a conversation with Qari Abdul WAHAB Saab when we felt a few drops of rain. After 5-10 mins, it started to drizzle. It’s amazing how things happen if we unite seeking Allah’s help and turn towards the Quran and Sunnah of our Prophet (sw) to derive from the treasures of Allah swt.”
