Is the Muslim community ready to elect muslim candidates in the Municipal Elections this Saturday?

10-17-2018

The general local elections in British Columbia will be held on Saturday October 20, 2018.

This time a record number of  Fourteen candidates have registered to contest  for municipal elections from the Muslim Community in BC.

As the community hopes to have some of our candidates elected it is not that easy. Elections Campaigns require finance, time, volunteers and lots of endurance to get the word out.

Over the last few weeks these candidates have done their part to engage with the communities they want to represent by door knocking, canvassing, phone calls and taking part in all candidates meetings. With their limited resources they have taken a bold step to put their name forward and contest the elections. Will it pay off for anyone of them is yet to be seen. A Win would be a huge reward but a loose would still be a win for the lower mainland muslim community. It shows we are ready to step up put our voice out there and are rerady to participate in the local issues that affect all of us.

Alameen Post would like to thank all the candidates for your efforts to accept the challenge to run for public office.
Congratulations and all the best.

You are all winners.
