Alhamdulillah, Masjidul Huda recently held its annual madrasah graduation ceremony, marking a historic milestone with the completion of its first Hafidh-ul-Qur’an. The young student, Unais Ifraaz Safiq, became the first to memorize the entire Holy Qur’an at the masjid. Starting from learning the basic Arabic alphabets, Unais completed his memorization at the tender age of 14, a remarkable achievement for both him and the community.
At Masjidul Huda, students benefit from a robust Islamic education system, which includes a full-time Islamic school program. Under the guidance of certified school teachers, students pursue their academic studies alongside memorizing the Qur'an. Additionally, the masjid offers a part-time evening Qur'an class program, with 90 children currently enrolled. This program focuses on Qur'an recitation and memorization of the 30th chapter, alongside teachings such as the 99 names of Allah, the basic kalimas of Islam, and daily Sunnah duas.
Children under the age of 10 are taught essential skills like taharah (purification), wudu (ablution), and the method of performing Salah, along with stories of the Prophets. Older students, above the age of 10, delve deeper into Islamic studies, learning Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Islamic Creed, Islamic History, Hadeeth, and Islamic etiquettes.
The graduation ceremony was a significant milestone for the entire community and for the Ummah in the region. On Sunday, September 8th, 2024, Masjidul Huda organized a special Quran Hifdh Jalsa in honor of their first graduate from the madrasa program. The event was emceed by Maulana Yusuf Jakda, who had initiated the program at the masjid several years ago. The event was well-attended by local ulema (Islamic scholars), and the maktab students recited naats, Surahs, and shared stories and teachings from their Islamic studies.
In his keynote speech, Maulana Khalid Sidat highlighted the virtues of the Qur'an, quoting an ayah, “Had We sent down this Quran upon a mountain, you would have certainly seen it humbled and torn apart in awe of Allah.” He marveled at the capacity of the human heart to memorize the Qur'an. Qari Abdul Wahab also expressed his joy, reflecting on the early challenges of attracting students to the maktab program. He shared his delight in witnessing students now becoming Huffaz (memorizers of the Qur'an).
Certificates were awarded to students for their achievements, and all attendees were treated to delicious food. Harun Mohammed, President of Masjidul Huda, expressed his happiness and pride in seeing his vision come to life. Since his involvement with the masjid, he had dreamt of the day they would produce a Hafidh from their community. He extended his gratitude to all the attendees, congratulated the parents, and thanked the volunteers for making the event a success.
