BC Elections Canadidate Profile: Asad Syed

Asad Syed has a master degree in Geology and has worked as a Geologist and Hydrogeologist in various countries. Recently he has been working as a realtor and has extensive knowledge of local housing and land development. He has been living in Surrey for the last 24 years with his wife and three children.  Asad Syed is deeply involved in community issues and social services.  He is founder and past president of White Rock Muslim Association, a registered charity organization serving the Muslim community and other faith groups in the South Surrey White Rock area.  He worked on projects, in partnership with United Church, sponsoring refugees and assisting with their settlement in the community. He is director of Global Peace Alliance BC, director of Canada Urdu Association and a member of the local Food Bank.  He ran for the City of Surrey Civic election as councillor in 2018 to raise a voice for the homeless and people that need affordable housing.

Asad Syed wants a better future for our children, grandchildren and future generations. The time has come to support sustainable affordable housing, affordable childcare, social and environmental justice while addressing issues at their root causes. Our cities need to be more sustainable and livable, we need a clean economic recovery from COVID-19, we need to strengthen community resilience while supporting tourism and small business, we need to support renters and integrate mental healthcare into our public healthcare system. 

Asad Syed is running as MLA with the BC Green Party in Surrey-Newton. He is running because the Green Party values and goals align with his values and goals. He wants to build the type of society where he would want his children and grandchildren to grow up in.
