Death threat received by Islamic Centre in Langley

Islamic Centre in Langley posted an image of a threatening letter which was received on Aug. 26 calling it a “violent threat.”
The threatening message states, “"You have two months to shut this place down and leave or I will go (full) Brenton Tarrant on you mudslimes, invaders must die!"
Langley Islamic centre issued a statement saying, “We are shaken by a deeply concerning violent threat that was directed towards our beautiful community in Langley BC.
The letter received, produced below, is meant to directly threaten members of the Langley Muslim community. The letter clearly stated a reference to the Christchurch Mosque Attack.
We are in touch with law enforcement, and are urging that this incident is investigated in a hate-motivated angle.
Our community should not have to congregate in fear. This should not be happening.
But we will not be intimidated.”
Langley RCMP confirmed it is investigating the letter.
While Canadians are going to the ballots with fresh memories of the loss of the Afzal Family the politicians are less inclined to discus Islamophobia as an issue facings Canadians.
To see these types of notes left at an Islamic Center is deeply concerning and Muslims feels Islamophobia is real and it impacts a lot women.
In a recent survey 34% agreed that Canada is a racist country.
The Survey was conducted by University of British Columbia in partnership with the Angus Reid Institute with a sample of 1,984 Canadian adults between May 11 to May 17 for a report titled “Diversity and Racism in Canada” looking into people’s perceptions of race to highlight what the population truly thinks of diversity.
Javeed Sukhera, chair of the London Police Services Board, and Ahmad Attia, chair of the Peel Police Services Board, recently wrote, “It’s time to arm our justice system with the necessary tools to root out hatred, and to hold accountable those who perpetrate hate crimes. It’s time to remind far-right extremists and terrorists that our country will not tolerate their hate-motivated crimes and rhetoric. The human cost of our inaction would be too great to bear.”
Since Canada is going thru elections, it is an opportune time we as a community can ask federal leaders to speak up against Quebec’s ban on religious symbols for public-sector workers through the province’s Bill 21 and how such hate crimes will be punishable.
