BCMA Press Release – Al-Aqsa Mosque Attack

4-19-2022

The BCMA strongly condemns the attack yesterday on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the worshipers there. We are horrified by the video evidence showing innocent people, including women and elders being targeted. Violence against innocent civilians, whether carried out by individuals or as happened in Jerusalem, by a state government, must never be normalized.

It is intolerable that Muslim Palestinian worshipers at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque are being targeted yet again during Ramadan. In a year when Passover, Easter, and Ramadan all fall on the same day, this is a time when we should be reflecting on how much we have in common rather than what divides us.

Al-Aqsa is one of Islam's holiest locations, and Jerusalem is a sacred city shared by the Abrahamic Faiths. It is critical that a peaceful solution be implemented for these important sites to remain secure, sacred, and accessible.

We ask our community to join us in praying and working for the safety and security of our brothers and sisters in Palestine and around the world.
