MAYOR BRENDA LOCKE PRAISE FIJIAN COMMUNITY FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTION DURING THE RADIO FIJI MIRCHI CANADA YEAR END PARTY.

The newly elected Mayor Brenda Locke, praised the Fijian community last night during the Radio Fiji Mirchi Canada’s(RFMC) year-end party at the Khanna Banquet Hall in Surrey. 

The mayor in her opening speech recognized and acknowledged the immense contribution of the Fijian community in Surrey. She inveterate her understanding of the community, acknowledging a member of the Fijian community Rochelle Prasad, running on her slate during the recent municipal election.

Mayor further confirmed having a wonderful time visiting Fiji during  the Cyclone Oscar in 1983.

 The RFMC  year-end party was of a great success last night. From dance performance entertainment to singers and many door prizes were given out.

Individual community members, businesses and organizations were recognized for their contributions and achievements.

Yasmin Khan, a former Nadi, Fiji resident who migrated to Canada in mid-80’s was recognized for her work achievement in a packed Hall as a Superintendent of Canada customs at the Vancouver International Airport. Many in attendance had a photo op with her wearing full fledge Canada Customs uniform.

 A former Fiji Khalsa College alumni Dhirendra(Rocky) Prakash, was recognized for his service with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police(RCMP).

Two return tickets to Fiji Airways were drawn, Mr IShri Prasad and Bobby of Surrey, won the tickets drawn form the hat.

 The RFM Canada CEO Mr Jittu Raj, told Canada Fiji Times that the event was of a great success and apologized to those who were not able to obtain their tickets to the event as it was sold out.
