Islamic Cooperation holds an emergency meeting regarding the attacks on Al-Aqsa

The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, said that the violations in the occupied city of Jerusalem coincided with a serious escalation in the pace of Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, represented by the recent Israeli military aggression on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in 36 martyrs, pointing out that the number of Palestinian martyrs during six In the past months, it has risen to about 180 martyrs, in addition to hundreds of wounded Palestinians.
This came during the Secretary-General’s speech at the extraordinary, open-ended meeting of the Executive Committee, which was held by the General Secretariat of the Organization to discuss the ongoing Israeli attacks on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, at the invitation of the State of Palestine and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, today, Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah.
The Secretary-General added that it is inconceivable for Israel, the occupying power, to remain acting as a state above the law, and to commit its crimes and aggressions against the Palestinian people, their land and sanctities, stressing the responsibility of the international community towards putting an end to the Israeli violations as a threat to international peace and security.
The Secretary-General stated that the organization followed the dangerous Israeli escalation in targeting Islamic and Christian holy sites alike in the occupied city of Jerusalem, especially the desecration and storming of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque by groups of extremist settlers and senior Israeli officials, with the protection of the occupation forces, and the holding of a meeting of the Israeli occupation government in a tunnel under Al-Aqsa Al-Mubarak, and the organization of the so-called provocative “flag march” inside the neighborhoods of the occupied city of Jerusalem.
The Secretary-General warned again of the seriousness of the continuation of these brutal Israeli attacks on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which constitute a violation of the sanctity of the holy places and freedom of worship, and represent an attack on the Palestinian people and their sanctities, and an attack on the feelings and belief of Muslims all over the world.
Hussein Taha welcomed the international reactions represented in rejecting and condemning this provocative visit by the extremist Israeli minister to the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and also stressed that the city of Jerusalem is an integral part of the Palestinian territory occupied in 1967, and the capital of the State of Palestine, and that all decisions and actions that he undertakes The Israeli occupation to Judaize the occupied city of Jerusalem has no legal effect and is considered null and void.
