An Evening of Reflection and Action: Community Raises $147,000 for Sudan and Gaza

11-26-2025

On Saturday, December 20, the community gathered at the Riverside Signature Banquet Hall in Surrey for a deeply moving Evening of Reflection for Sudan, featuring Mufti Wasim Khan. What was intended as a night of reflection, unity, and compassion became a powerful testament to collective generosity—raising an extraordinary $147,000 for humanitarian relief efforts in Sudan and Gaza, with an audience of approximately 300 attendees.

As doors opened at 5:00 PM, attendees arrived with hearts open and a shared understanding of the urgency facing vulnerable communities abroad. The program, running from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, created space not only to learn about the unfolding humanitarian crises, but also to respond meaningfully.

Throughout the evening, Mufti Wasim Khan delivered a heartfelt and inspiring message that reminded attendees of their moral responsibility toward those facing displacement, hunger, and loss. His words grounded the evening in faith, conscience, and action—reinforcing the idea that compassion must extend beyond intention into tangible support.

Sudan continues to endure immense hardship, with families facing severe food insecurity and displacement, while Gaza remains in desperate need of sustained humanitarian aid. The response from the audience was overwhelming. Through generous donations, attendees transformed concern into impact, ensuring that life-saving assistance can reach those who need it most.

More than a fundraiser, the evening was a reminder of what is possible when a community comes together with sincerity and purpose. The unity in the room—across ages and backgrounds—reflected a shared belief that dignity, mercy, and justice must guide our response to suffering.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and helped organize this event. Your presence and generosity directly contribute to delivering essential aid and restoring hope to families across Sudan and Gaza.

One evening. One community. $147,000 toward relief, dignity, and hope.
