Gross Mismanagement and Negligence Regarding Bus Service Suspension
3-03-2026
Parents are writing to express an absolute outrage regarding the "Suspension of Bus Service" notice sent today at 1:51 PM. To demand that parents—many of whom are working professionals—arrange to pick up their children by 3:00 PM with virtually zero notice is not just an "inconvenience"; it is a gross display of administrative incompetence.
A Failure of Leadership and Fiduciary Duty
The previous education board was removed under difficult circumstances with the promise of better oversight. Instead, we are met with a level of negligence that compromises the daily lives of every family in this school. What exactly has this current board achieved?
Systemic Negligence: It is statistically impossible for an entire fleet to fail a mechanical inspection simultaneously. If the reports are true that license plates were seized by a bailiff due to non-payment, this is a legal and financial mismanagement.
Total Lack of Transparency: The email cited "unforeseen circumstances," yet evidence suggests this was a targeted seizure of license plates by a bailiff due to unpaid ICBC premiums.
Misplaced Priorities: While the board has been preoccupied with election manouvering, the foundational duty of transporting our children safely and reliably has been abandoned.
Affected by: BC Muslim School (4), Surrey Muslim School (3 buses), Funeral Services (2 hearse and 1 van) and refugee car
The Impact on Families-150+ Children at Risk
This is the most harrowing aspect of this fiasco: More than 150 children rely on these buses for their daily commute. * Can you imagine the outcome if one of these uninsured buses had been involved in a collision?
By failing to pay the insurance, you knowingly or through gross negligence allowed 150+ students to be transported in vehicles with zero liability coverage. * You have gambled with the lives of our children and the entire financial future of the BC Muslim Association.
Negligent Communication Protocols
Furthermore, the method of communication was entirely inadequate.
No Redundancy: Sending a single email for an emergency of this magnitude is unacceptable. Many parents do not have immediate access to email during work hours.
Failure to Confirm: This situation required direct phone calls to every affected family to ensure the message was received. To assume an email sent at 1:51 PM would be seen and acted upon by 3:00 PM is delusional and puts children at risk of being left stranded.
Imagine the position you have put working mothers and fathers in today. In what world is it acceptable to give parents 69 minutes to leave their jobs and navigate Metro Vancouver traffic? This fiasco reveals a complete lack of empathy and respect for the parents who fund this institution.
Urgent Demands for Accountability
The parents, deserve immediate and honest answers to the following:
What was the actual cause? Was it a lapse in insurance, and if so, how was this allowed to happen across the entire fleet, including funeral hearses and executive vehicles?
Financial Oversight: Who is responsible for the accounts payable, and why were ICBC payments ignored while you were focused on internal elections and voter manipulation?
Restoration of Service: When will the buses be legally and safely back on the road?
This is a serious failure of your fiduciary and moral duty to the BC Muslim School community. We expect a detailed explanation and a plan for restitution immediately.
Urgent Demands for Accountability from the Trustees
We deserve immediate and honest answers:
Confirmation of Insurance Status: Were children transported in uninsured vehicles this morning or in previous days?
Financial Oversight: Who is responsible for the accounts payable, and why were ICBC payments ignored while you were focused on internal politics?
Communication Protocol: Why were phone calls not placed to ensure the safety and pickup of every student?
This is a serious failure of your fiduciary and moral duty. Had the trustees of BCMA taken up governance issues seriously we would not have been in this situation, We expect a detailed public explanation and a plan for immediate leadership accountability
