Saudi Arabia Expanded Volunteer Operations Center for Hajj 1447 AH
5-29-2026
Saudi Arabia concluded the Hajj season of 1447 AH after successfully operating the Volunteer Operations Center for the third consecutive year, reinforcing the Kingdom’s efforts to organize and strengthen volunteer services for pilgrims.
The center was launched through a partnership between the National Center for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the Pilgrims Experience Program, the General Authority of Awqaf, and the Nusk Humanitarian Foundation. The initiative focused on integrating volunteer services and improving coordination among participating organizations throughout the pilgrimage season.
During Hajj 1447 AH, the center worked to mobilize more than 35,000 volunteers across the holy sites through a comprehensive operational framework aimed at enhancing safety, efficiency, and service quality for pilgrims.
The initiative built upon Saudi Arabia’s growing institutional model for managing volunteer work during Hajj, emphasizing collaboration, unified operations, and the use of advanced technology and data systems to improve performance and service delivery.
Officials highlighted the achievements of the previous Hajj season in 1446 AH, during which the center enabled more than 34,000 volunteers who collectively contributed over 2.8 million volunteer hours. Participation exceeded projected targets by 138 percent, reflecting the increasing role of institutional volunteerism and the expanding contribution of the Kingdom’s non-profit sector in serving pilgrims.
Throughout the season, the center operated through an integrated digital platform that monitored, tracked, and analyzed volunteer activities in real time. Participating organizations used a unified electronic system to follow performance indicators, submit reports, and evaluate operational outcomes, helping improve coordination, response times, and field operations.
Authorities stated that the operational model helped unify the efforts of government agencies, non-profit organizations, and volunteer teams under a single framework, ensuring clearer responsibilities, better initiative coordination, and efficient deployment of resources based on on-the-ground needs.
For the 1447 AH Hajj season, the center expanded specialized volunteer opportunities while increasing preparedness among volunteers and participating organizations. The initiative also further integrated digital solutions and data-driven management tools to measure impact and improve the sustainability of volunteer operations.
Saudi officials described the Volunteer Operations Center as a leading national model for managing seasonal volunteer work and a reflection of the Kingdom’s broader commitment to humanitarian and volunteer initiatives under the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
