ROSSDOWN POULTRY INSPECTION REPORT

MARCH 13TH 2018

Upon receiving complaints from an employee of ROSSDOWN POULTRY,
the Inspectors of HICC visited the plant un-announced.

The areas under audit were:

1.    Hanging of birds  VERY HUMANELY HANDLED

2.    Hanging Speed 120 BIRDS PER MINUTE- WITH 3 [PLUS] SLAUGHTER MEN. This meets our requirements.

3.    Stunning: ELECTRICAL WATER DIP STUNNING as per Standard procedure.

4.    Stunning Voltage [varies upon size of birds] 16-18 VOLTS FOR FRYERS; 25–32 VOLTS FOR TURKEYS. This meets our requirements for voltage.

5.    Does the Stunning KILL?: NO

6.    Two minute on-line test: AFTER STUNNING, A COUPLE OF BIRDS WERE REMOVED OF THE CHAIN, WITHIN 2 MINUTES THEY WALKED AWAY. This further confirms that neither stunning nor the voltage used is a fatal.

7.    Actual Slaughtering: EACH SLAUGHTERMAN DOES 3 BIRDS AND LEAVES 6 FOR THE NEXT 2 SLAUGHTERERS.

A COMFORTABLE INTERVAL FOR HAND SLAUGHTERMAN.
8.    Slaughtering per minute per slaughter man: TURKEYS 20 PER MINUTE PER PERSON; CHICKEN 30-34 PER PERSON PER MINUTE. THIS IS EXCLLENT PACE FOR HAND SLAUGHTER.

9.    Bath Dip Temperature [varies upon size of birds] TURKEYS- 150 DEG F  CHICKEN- 120-128 DEG F

10.    Since the plant does not do any ‘non-Halal’ method of slaughtering, THE CUT-UP, DE-BONING and PACKAGING has no cross-contamination issue.

11.    OVERALL OBSERVATION: THE PLANT IS ADHERING TO ALL OUR CONDITIONS IMPOSED ON THEM FOR THE HALAL PROCESS.
