During the Friday Khutbah at Al Iman on July 11th, we were reminded of the powerful impact made by just nine Sahaba (may Allah be pleased with them) who brought Islam to Indonesia—a land once steeped in Buddhism and idol worship. Their sincere effort transformed a nation, showing what true faith and conviction can achieve.
Today, at our own Masjid Al Noor, a 40-storey condominium project awaits city approval. Unfortunately, this would result in relocating the Masjid roughly 50 feet east from its current sacred ground. To my knowledge, no Imam has voiced support for this redevelopment.
I ask: who among us, as concerned mussallees, will stand with me to respectfully engage with our President, Brother Janif, and request that he reconsider and step away from this deal?
Masjid Al Noor was established in 1994. With Allah’s help, the community paid off its interest-free loan in just 10 months. Over the years, two adjacent properties were acquired and paid off in less than 6 months—without any need for large-scale fundraising. We have seen Allah’s barakah before, and we will see it again, insha’Allah. We can afford to build a new Masjid without compromising our current space. All we need is complete trust in Allah, the Almighty.
May Allah guide us toward what is best for our community.
