Darul Qur’an’s annual camp 2023 was an unforgettable experience filled with cherished memories that we will carry with us for a lifetime. This year, we went for 5 days and had 25 participants!
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was charged with excitement and anticipation, and we knew we were in for an amazing time.
The days were packed with a variety of activities that brought us all together and strengthened our bonds with each other and with our faith. The mornings began with Fajr Salah & uplifting devotional sessions, setting a positive tone for the day ahead. We'd gather in a beautiful outdoor setting, surrounded by nature's beauty, and engage in heartfelt Halaqas regarding Qur’an and Hadith and how to implement them in our daily lives.
Throughout the day, we participated in team-building games and sports that tested our skills and brought out our competitive spirit. Whether we were conquering darts, playing volleyball, or engaging in friendly baseball games, we were always cheering each other on, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment.
One of the highlights of the camp was the evening campfires. Gathered around the crackling flames, we shared stories, talked about the life of our beloved Prophet ?, and roasted marshmallows to make s'mores. The warmth of the fire mirrored the warmth of the friendships we were building, and we couldn't help but feel a profound sense of belonging.
One of the most impactful aspects of camp was the spiritual growth we experienced. Engaging in deep discussions about our faith, attending inspiring talks and sermons, and taking time for personal reflection during quiet moments, allowed us to draw closer to our beliefs and connect with Allah on a profound level.
The camp also offered opportunities for us to show our faith to others in the camp and community. It was fulfilling to see how our collective efforts could make a difference and positively impact the lives of others.
Even during downtime, we were never short of laughter and camaraderie. Late-night chats in the tents and stargazing were some of the moments that fostered strong friendships and allowed us to appreciate the simple joys of life.
As the days passed, we became a tight-knit family. We shared dreams, fears, and aspirations, knowing that we had a support system in one another. Friendships forged in the Darul Qur’an camp are unique because they are built on shared values and experiences, making them enduring and meaningful.
As the camp came to a close, there was a mix of happiness and sadness. We were grateful for the incredible time we had, but bidding farewell to newfound friends was difficult. We exchanged contact information, promising to stay in touch and reunite at future Darul Qur’an events.
Looking back, we realize that camp wasn't just about fun activities; it was an experience that enriched our lives spiritually, emotionally, and socially. The memories we created during those days will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we are forever thankful for the bonds we formed and the fun we had in camp. We ask the Almighty to make these camps possible again and again in the coming years.
Without the help of our volunteers, this camp would not have been possible.
We thank our sponsors, the community, Brother Tahir Sattar and our partner Islamic Relief Canada for their continued support throughout year.
May Allah accept their sacrifices, contributions, their time, efforts and Duas! May Allah bless them in this world and the hereafter!
